Human Resources Principal Specialist/Lead Specialist (Head of HRBPs) Role Profile 

Background: The Human Resources Department (HRD) is responsible for the administration and development of the human resources in the IDB Group. It also oversees the implementation of the “Human Capital Strategy”, building and implementing programs and methodologies in direct support of our results-based business model, and focusing on the development of the Bank’s talent and technical skills capacity.

The team: The HR Business Partner (HRBP) Group provides direct services to the Departments of the IDB, supporting the entire employee lifecycle from sourcing to retirement. The successful candidate will exercise leadership in the implementation of the IDB talent strategy and institutional HR policies, being a trusted advisor and strategic partner for Senior Executives and functional leaders to pro-actively address business needs related to HR management issues.

 
This role offers a unique opportunity: Our next Head of HRBPs will join us at a significant time for the IDB Group as we are designing our new Human Capital strategy, bringing the best-in-class practices to create an amazing employee experience. The primary focus is to lead a team of business partners that act as liaisons between the business and the HR centers of expertise. The Head of BPs must know well our internal clients - their initiatives, goals, and challenges - in order to act as a strategic advisor in themes such as recruitment, workforce planning and career development. This position is for someone passionate about working with people, a great listener with a creative spirit that constantly promotes collaboration and a culture of continuous improvement. 


Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Establish and maintain a strong relationship with IDB Management Team and functional leaders on the development and implementation of the talent strategy, bringing an outside-in HR perspective and understanding client expectations.
  • Ensure that strong leadership and coaching culture permeates the organization. Coach and drive the leadership team to guarantee a robust governance structure.
  • Facilitate strategic conversations with business leaders to identify their talent pipeline requirements and to develop and execute a business-driven Workforce and succession planning, aligned with their business strategy.
  • Lead the roll-out of the annual Talent Review Process (TRP), the Promotion Exercise and the Annual Workforce Call, and plays a key role in the management and resolution of performance cases.
  • Advise and present insights garnered through analysis in a way that influences and supports the leadership of IDB and HRD in its decision-making processes, from a strategic human capital perspective.
  • Partner with the broader HRD ecosystem on the co-creation and implementation of solutions, strategies and policies regarding organizational development, talent and performance management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and workforce planning.
  • Provide feedback and insights on the effectiveness and impact of HR policies to shape the development, update, and implementation of policies and processes. May lead workstreams related to developing and aligning HR policies to business needs.
  • Provide thought leadership and direction to the HR Business Partners and more junior team members. Monitor the quality of outputs, achievement of goals, and annual objectives for the team.

Qualifications and Experience 

  • At least 12 years of progressive professional experience in HR management in a multinational environment. A proven track record in building and leading high performing teams with client service orientation is essential.
  • Education: You hold a Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, organizational development, or another related field.
  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48 member countries (https://www.iadb.org/en/about-us/how-are-we-organized). IDB offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group
  • Strong technical background, including extensive knowledge of leading-edge HR programs, systems, and practices.
  • Ability to bring innovative and workable concepts and ideas to meet client’s needs, translating them into policies, processes, and systems.
  • Strong business acumen and clear understanding of market trends, competition, and culture.
  • Ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to drive continual improvements in business objectives, productivity, and development.
  • Ability to have a “big picture” perspective but also able to design, implement, and manage complex processes from a strategic and operational perspective.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to quickly establish and maintain trust and credibility with all stakeholders. Sound judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • People management, including the ability to organize and delegate work, motivate, coach, and develop staff.
  • Collaborative team player who can inspire trust and passion in the IDB Group’s mission, establish productive relationships, and treat all individuals with fairness and respect.
  • Languages: Oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish required; knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is a plus.

Terms of Appointment 

  • The appointment will be made on a fixed-term basis initially for three (3) years.
