CGIAR Consortium New CEO

Dr. Frank Rijsberman  has been appointed as CEO to CGIAR Consortium

 

Dr. Rijsberman has more than 30 years’ experience as a leader in natural resources management in developing, transitioning, and developed economies in both the private and public sectors. Initially he consulted for numerous international and bilateral organizations and cofounded Resource Analysis, a research and consulting firm.  From 2000 to 2007 he was Director General of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), than Director of program in the philanthropic arm of Google and more recently the Director of the Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene strategy of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.  In 1997 he was appointed full Professor at UNESCO-IHE, International Institute for Water Education.

This appointment comes at a critical junction for the CGIAR community. We are proud to have contributed to this significant appointment at such a key moment for the CGIAR Community.

Science Foundation Ireland appoints New Director General

The Board of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) has appointed Professor Mark Ferguson as Director General of the organisation. Professor Ferguson, a native of Northern Ireland, will take up the position on January 16th 2012. The appointment is for a five-year term.

A leading academic for thirty years, Professor Ferguson is also a co-founder of Renovo, a biotechnology company developing novel pharmaceutical therapies to prevent scarring and accelerate wound healing.
