On Saturday the 7th of November, the SRI Executive HQ team attended Plan International’s Because I Am A Girl ball in the Clyde Court Hotel, Dublin.
The event provided an opportunity to support the work Plan International does, in assisting girls in the developing world. Plan International have, for almost eighty years, contributed to standing up for every child’s right to fulfill their potential.
The Because I Am A Girl ball included a live music, whiskey tasting and an auction, where bidders were in with the chance of securing prizes such as a week in a villa in Morocco for ten people and a copy of the One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest script, signed by Jack Nicholson.
With the resonating theme of the evening ‘Empower a girl, transform a community’, the money raised from the event will be utilized by Plan International in the continued support of girls and young women living in developing countries. With 15 million young girls forced into marriage before the age of eighteen, and ‘Because I am a Girl works at local, national and international levels to enable millions of girls to avoid early and forced marriage, stay in school and benefit from a quality education.’
