The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) Board of Governors has announced the appointment of Dr Pema Gyamtsho as their new Director General, who will take up the position in October 2020.
Dr Gyamtsho will succeed current Director General, Dr David Molden, upon his retirement in the autumn.
Dr Gyamtsho is deeply committed to the people of the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region. He has served the Royal Government of Bhutan and brings more than three decades of leadership experience in environment and sustainability, natural resource management and planning, rural development, agriculture, forestry, conservation and other areas relevant to ICIMOD’s work.
Dr Gyamtsho holds a PhD in Natural Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
